Upper Marshwood Vale Parish Council

Upper Marshwood Vale Parish Council is a grouped council made up of the four parishes of Marshwood, Bettiscombe, Stoke Abbott and Pilsdon. The Council meets either at Stoke Abbott or Bettiscombe on the third Thursday in the months of January, March, May, July, September and November. The May meeting is the Annual Council Meeting.

Quality Parish CouncilThe Planning Committee meets, if required, at the Shave Cross Skittle Alley on the third Thursday in the months of February, April, June, August, October and December. The Council meeting also deals with planning applications.

There is always a Democratic Period during the Council meeting to which members of the public are welcome to attend to ask questions and to make their views known to the meeting. If you require a detailed answer advanced notice of your question would be appreciated.

Planning applications can be seen on the www.dorsetforyou.com website. When you enter the site select planning application search on the popular links. You should then select West Dorset District Council. You can then fill in the application number, postcode or parish so that you can view the application you are interested in. Alternatively they will be on display at the meeting at which they are going to be dealt with.

Upper Marshwood Vale Parish Council is not a planning authority, therefore it only makes recommendations to either West Dorset District Council or, on some applications, to Dorset County Council.
